[필리핀 생활] 필리핀 중앙은행(BSP)의 동전교환기로 페소 동전을 지캐시로 교환하기

 

 

필리핀 마닐라에서 생활하면서 재래시장을 다니다 보면 동전이 생길 수밖에 없다. 집 어딘가에 페소와 센타보 동전을 잔뜩 가지고 있다면 몰 오브 아시아나 메가몰 등에 갔을 때 동전을 지캐시로 교환하여 사용해 보자. 필리핀 중앙은행(BSP)에서 운영하는 동전교환기(CoDM)를 이용하여 동전을 지캐시(GCash)로 교환할 수 있다. 

코인 디포짓 머신(Coin Deposit Machine)이라고 부르는 이 동전교환기는 필리핀 중앙은행(BSP)에서 운영하는 것으로 수수료 없이 동전을 지캐시로 교환할 수 있다. SM쇼핑몰나 페스티발몰에 비치된 동전교환기를 사용한다면 해당 쇼핑몰에서 사용할 수 있는 상품권(shopping voucher)으로도 교환이 가능하다. 페소는 물론 센타보 동전까지, 필리핀 BSP에서 발행한 모든 동전을 교환할 수 있다.

필리핀 중앙은행(BSP)에서는 2024년 1월 현재 25개의 동전교환기(CoDM)를 운영하고 있다. 참고로  필리핀 중앙은행(BSP)의 발표에 따르면 작년 동전교환기 이용 금액이 무려 2억 9780만 페소(P297.8 million)에 달했다고 한다.

* 2억 9780만 페소는 한화 약 69억 8,341만 원(1페소=23.45원)에 해당한다.
